During the Victorian era when this button style was used its postings included India (where it suppressed the Moplah rebellion in 1873) and Burma from 1879. In 1881 it was merged with the 52nd (Oxfordshire) Regiment of Foot to form The Oxfordshire Light Infantry under the Childers Reforms.
